Even Eid revelers not spared

JAMMU, Oct 6: Pakistan Army even didn’t spare pious day of Eid to target the people along the Line of Control (LoC) and International Border (IB) due to which several people couldn’t offer Eid prayers today.
In Balakote and Mankote sectors in Poonch district, it was at about 8 am when the people living close to the LoC had left their houses for Mosques to offer Eid prayers when Pakistan Army suddenly started heavy mortar shelling and firing forcing the people to immediately return to their houses and take shelter in safer areas.
Reports said this was the situation in several forward areas along the LoC in Balakote, Mankote and Mendhar, where shelling and firing by the Pakistan Army continued from 8 am to late afternoon due to which several people couldn’t offer Eid prayers and were unable to celebrate the festival.
The people strongly cursed Pakistan Army for not sparing the day of even Eid festival from shelling and firing and spoiling celebrations of the people.
However, India and Pakistani troops exchanged sweets on the occasion of Eid festival at Chakan-Da-Bagh Zero Line in Poonch district.
Indian Army team led by Col Hemant Singh and Pakistan Army officials headed by Lt Col Hillal-ur-Rehman exchanged sweets and fruits at Chakan-Da-Bagh in Poonch sector in about 20 minutes ceremony.
