This is a play of awareness for our young generation which is not familiar with their mother tongue. Even, they do not feel and know the importance of mother tongue. Ashok, a young boy appears in an interview for bank recruitment but is rejected for not knowing mother tongue. He was asked that if he does not know his local language how can he treat local people who do not know any other language than local language.
Ashok was a student of English medium school and had never cared to know and speak his mother tongue. He became desperate and narrated this whole episode to his mother. Mother is also worried and feels very much for her son who could not speak local language. Mother says that he should now feel the importance of his mother tongue and start speaking it with his friends relatives so that it becomes familiar with his day to day life.
Mother says that if we can speak other languages why not our mother tongue. Ashok’s mother further also narrates the history of local language and importance of it. Finally, Ashok realizes his mistake of not knowing mother tongue and decides that from now on, he will speak only mother tongue with his friends.
A large number of people witnessed the play and appreciated its theme.
This play was adopted and directed by Vijay Malla and assisted by Anuroop Pathania. Those who performed in the play included Prabal Sharma, Mohit Chargotra and Anuroop Pathania.
