JAMMU, Dec 15: ‘Sheen’, a collection of short stories in Kashmiri written by young author, Er Vinod Kumar was released in a literary function organized by Young Writers Guild at K.L Saigal Hall here today.
There are fifteen short stories in the book “Sheen” that revolve round the incidents during and after the forced exodus of Kashmiri Pandits from the valley.
The stories also reveal the hardships which the community people face in exile. The book has been written in both Devnagri and Nastaleeq scripts.
This is Vinod’s second book after ‘Lal Ded’.
The book was released in an impressive function attended by a galaxy of intellectuals, writers and poets.
The function was presided over by ML Pandita, member Kashmiri Advisory Board Sahitya Akademi New Delhi, while Dr Aziz Hajini, Convenor North Indian Languages Sahitya Akademi New Delhi was the chief guest while Ramesh Hangloo, Director Radio Sharda was the guest of honour. Rinko Koul conducted the proceedings of the function.
The function started with a devotional song in Kashmiri sung by little singer Daksh Pandit which enthralled the audience. The welcome address was delivered by Kundan Paras, while ohit Bhat gave a brief introduction about the author.
The speakers appreciated the role of the budding writer in promoting Kashmiri literature and language among the young generation, besides laying stress on preserving the rich cultural heritage of Kashmir and promoting the Kashmiri language.
Apart from the trio of Dr Aziz Hajini, ML Raina and Romesh Hangloo, the other dignitaries who spoke on the occasion included AK Naz, RL Jowher and KK Lidoo.
