Ensure speedy disposal of petition on reservation in promotions: JAC

JAMMU, Nov 8: Joint Action Committee of General Category the today urged upon the State Government to ensure the speedy disposal of the petition pending in the Supreme Court with regard to ‘ no reservation in promotions’.
Addressing joint press conference here today heads of Rajput, Brahman, Mahajan and other biradaris (GC) appealed to the general category members to get united and take their fight with regard to `no reservation in promotions’ to the logical conclusion.
Ved Prakash Sharma, convenor JAC and president Brahman Sabha, Vinod Gupta, President Central Mahajan Sabha , Narayan Singh president Rajput Sabha, Capt Anil Gaur, Secty (Org) JAC, Ravi Khajuria, and Rajkumar Jain, president Jain Sabha while referring to the struggle of the general category said that employees of the Gen Category are facing injustice and humiliation since long and the time has come to undo the wrong and take corrective measures. They asked all the members of the General Category to gear up for the long struggle.
Narayan Singh, urged the Government to expedite the disposal of the writ petition in the Supreme Court on the matter of reservation in promotions, so that justice bestowed upon the General Category people by the historic judgment of High Court declaring the Reservation in Promotion as unconstitutional is thoroughly implemented in the State.
He said the reservation in promotion rules had jeopardized the promotion avenues of general category masses and were made to stagnate at their entry level posts. These rules had allowed the murder of merit and administrative efficiency was compromised. After 11 Years of relentless struggle in the High Court the said rules were scrapped.
Ved Prakash Sharma, convenor JAC highlighted that in similar matter pertaining to states like Uttar Pradesh the Supreme Court found the reservation in promotion rules as unconstitutional and ordered the demotion of all illegal promotees who had been promoted under the garb of these flawed rules. High court of Madhya Pradesh, Punjab and Haryana also found these rules not satisfying the critera as laid down in the Nagaraj judgment of Supreme Court and accordingly scrapped.
Ravi Khajuria, convenor JAC, Samba Unit lambasted the groups and organizations who just for vote bank politics are trying to divide the society in the name of caste and demeaning the judicial process by raising hue and cry on a matter that has been decided in the Court and currently sub judice in the Supreme court. Capt Anil Gaur also spoke on the occasion.
