JAMMU, June 8: In a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Advocate Shivan Mahajan against child abuse, Division Bench of State High Court comprising Justice Alok Aradhe and Justice Sanjeev Kumar today directed ICDS Director to ensure compliance of the orders or appear in person on next date of hearing.
After hearing both the sides, DB observed, “Deputy AG Vishal Bharti submits that Member Secretary of the Committee has been transferred and the new incumbent is yet to join. Therefore, the directions contained in the order dated 04.05.2017 could not be complied with”.
“In the interests of justice, by way of last indulgence, four weeks further time is granted to the respondents to comply with the order dated 04.05.2017 whereby direction was issued that the Committee constituted under Rule 89 of the Jammu and Kashmir Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Rules, 2014, shall constitute the Juvenile Justice Board(s) and District Child Welfare Committees in the State of Jammu and Kashmir within two months failing which the Director, ICDS, shall remain present before this court on 12.07.2017”, DB directed.
