JAMMU, Nov 3: DIG Jammu-Samba-Kathua Range Ashkoor Wani impressed upon the police officers to enhance the patrolling around the educational institutions including tuition centres, Women Colleges and Higher Secondary Schools to curb the menace of eve-teasing.
He stated this during a meeting here today. The meeting was attended by Uttam Chand, SSP Jammu, Shahzad Ahmad Salaria SP City South, Sachin Gupta SDPO City South, SHO Gandhi Nagar Bishnesh Kumar.
During the meeting, Pawan Singh, Ex-Corporator, Subash Chander Rekhi, President, Welfare Association Laxmi Narayan Mandir, Choudhary Manmohan Singh, Ex-Mayor Jammu, Vinay Gupta from Nai Basti, Rajesh Bakshi, Ex-Corporater, Rama Nand, Senior Member Trade Union, Hardev Singh, Corporator, Cantonment Board, Jai Deep Sharma, Ved Sharma, Ashwani Khullar, Mukand Lal Sharma, Manga Matoo, President Civic Safari Karmchari Union expressed their views and highlighted the grievances about traffic jamming in Nai Basti, Satwari Chowk, Gandhi Nagar markets, unauthorized parking on roads, enhancement of police patrolling during night hours, social evils, menace of drugs, eve teasing at tuition centres, etc.
While speaking, Uttam Chand, SSP Jammu, said that police has recently organized various programmes under Civic Action Programme to chanellize energy of youth in right directions. He said that recently some theft cases have been solved and thieves were apprehended. He urged upon the participants to use dial 100 facilities for their grievances, as about 40 police vehicles have been put into service in and around Jammu city and assured that their complaints will be properly addressed.
DIG Jammu said that for proper regulation of traffic in Nai Basti and Satwari Chowk, necessary directions have already been passed to local police to assist the traffic police during peak hours. Regarding issue of flourishing of unauthorized rehries business at every nook and corner of the city, DIG Jammu said that Municipal Corporation will be involved in this connection for removal of unauthorized Rehries.
DIG Jammu said that necessary directions have been passed to all the field machineries to ensure quickest possible service delivery viz. issuance of character certificate, clearance of passport and service verifications.
He said that the genuine demand of the public regarding stoppage of mini-buses at unauthorized stops and auto-rickshaw fares have been resolved to around 90 per cent. Regarding recovery of stolen property in theft cases, strict directions have been imparted to all the field machinery, he stated.
