JAMMU, Apr 11: A delegation affiliated to All J&K Self-Help Group of Engineers Association met the Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, today and presented  a memorandum for redressal of its grievances.
The members of the delegation apprised the Chief Minister about the bottlenecks they are facing in implementation of the scheme launched in 2003 for unemployed engineers by the Department of Employment. The scheme was launched to provide the jobless engineers an alternative window to Government jobs.
The delegation requested Mufti Sayeed for granting approval to the draft guidelines of the scheme, facility of soft loans against work orders, one-time CDR on analogy of SSI unit-holders, removal of bar on limit of works for those operating for over 10 years, exemption for over-aged groups from Annual Revalidation Process and extending the ambit of the scheme to Centrally-sponsored ventures like PMGSY, RGGY and NHAI.
Assuring the delegation of proper redressal, the Chief Minister said he will encourage genuine self-help groups of engineers so that they get equal opportunities in allotment of  work contracts floated by various Government departments. He said he will pass necessary directions to the concerned authorities to revamp the broad contours of the scheme to provide a level-playing field to the self-help groups of engineers.
