JAMMU, Sept 9: The Jammu State Morcha (JSM) has demanded that new policy of privatization of electricity distribution and revenue collection be uniformly enforced in the State and not in a particular area to create confusion.
In a meeting of the Morcha held here under the chairmanship of its president, Prof Virender Gupta, the members discussed the issues of privatization of electricity distribution and its rent collection from the consumers and the miserable condition of roads and lanes.
Prof Gupta said if the Government is intended to go for new policy of privatization of electricity, it should be uniformly enforced at the given time in both the provinces of the State with no exception. The Government should shun its habit of experimenting first on the people of Jammu. He said discrimination with Jammu province in the matter shall not be tolerated and resented with full force.
The Morcha strongly condemned the working of ERA, PWD and Jammu Municipal Corporation authorities for the poor condition of the roads and the streets in Jammu city. He said the roads in Janipur, New Plot, Sarwal , Rehari, Upper Shiv Nagar, Subash Nagar, Tope Sherkhania, Bakshi Nagar have been dug for laying the sewerage pipes by ERA over three months back, but have not been repaired as a result people passing through these roads are facing great problems because of traffic jams and accumulation of mud in the rainy season.
