Endoscopic Tympanoplasty done 1st time in DH Udhampur

UDHAMPUR, Sept 16: Endoscopic Tympanoplasty– an ENT procedure with the help of endoscopy was performed first time in District Hospital Udhampur.
A 26-year-old female patient who was suffering from ear discharge and hearing loss since last 3 years was operated by ENT Surgeon Dr Neha along with the help of Anesthetist Dr Prakash Atri and Theater Assistants Rajinder and Mahesh under the supervision of CMO Udhampur Dr KC Dogra and Medical superintendent Dr Vijay Raina.
Dr Neha who is trained in endoscopic surgeries from Safdarjung Hospital New Delhi is also trained in endoscopic nasal procedures and vocal cord surgeries. Use of endoscope help to visualize the middle ear anatomy and pathology intra operatively with minimal soft tissue manipulation better cosmesis and reduced postoperative morbidity and better graft uptake.
Doing elective surgeries also put doctors and paramedical staff on high risk of getting corona virus especially in ENT, said Dr Neha as operation is done in close contact with patient. Patient was stable and happy after surgery, she added.
