RAJOURI, Aug 11: In an effort to retrieve the encroached forest land in Rajouri Poonch and Reasi, Forest Division’s eviction drives were conducted in Nagrota and Kandi block of Rajouri Forest Division, Surankote Range of Poonch Forest Division and Thakrakote Range of Reasi Forest Division.
An area of 3.05 Ha was retrieved from the encroachers besides dismantling of two concrete shops and one Dhara. The eviction drive was carried under the overall supervision of B Mohandaas, Conservator of Forests West Circle Rajouri.
Official sources confirmed that such eviction drives will also continue in future to retrieve the forest land from the encroachers. In order to facilitate speedy compliance, a dedicated complaint cell has been created at the Circle head quarters Rajouri to monitor the cases of encroachment and their evictions.
Asking general public of Rajouri, Poonch and Reasi to lodge their complaints of forest land encroachment, the department has also flashed Mobile and Landline phone numbers, which included 7051343079, 01962-261141 and 01962-261992.
