SRINAGAR: An encounter ensued in south Kashmir district of Pulwama between militants and security forces this afternoon, official sources said.
They said on a tip-off about the presence of militants security forces and Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police, launched a joint search operation at Ladoo, Pampore, in Pulwama.
However, when the security forces were moving towards a particular area, militants opened fire. Security forces also retaliated ensuing an encounter.
Additional security forces and State police personnel were rushed to the area to prevent any demonstration by locals. Further details are awaited, they said. (AGENCIES)
