JAMMU, Nov 8: A massive protest demonstration and day long dharna was organised by the State Government employees, casual labours, temporary workers and pensions at front of Divisional Commissioner’ s office at Rail Head complex here today.
A large number of permanent and temporary employees under the banner of J&K Govt Employees, Casual Labours, Workers & Pensioners United Platform assembled near Panama Chowk and then moved in the shape of large rally towards Rail Head complex. They were carrying banners and placards in their hands depicting their demands. They also shouted slogans against the Govt in support of their pending issues.
After holding protest demonstration for some time, then they sat on day long dharna outside the office of Divisional Commissioner Dr Pawan Kotwal. Several senior Trade union leaders addressed the gathering and urged upon the Government to implement 7th Pay Commission Report, enhance medical allowance, regularize all the casual/ daily rated and other workers in various departments by framing a definite policy. They also criticized Government for its anti-worker policy.
They declared that on December 19, employees and workers would observe mass casual leave strike as their next course of action. They said due to soaring prices of essentials and other commodities the working class is facing lot of hardships. The State Government must implement 7th Pay Panel report without any delay.
Prominent among those who addressed included Mohd Garooq Dar, Shiv Kumar Sharma, S Kulwant Singh, Hari Singh, Tanveer Hussain, Sanjeev Kumar, Shahid Hussain, Nazir Ahmed Moulvi, Rajinder Kumar, Abdul Ahad, Subhash Chander, Raj Singh and Vikramjeet Singh.
