Electric Vehicles for J&K

World is transforming at a much quicker pace than expected and the resultant technology transition is a rendition to watch and enjoy. Carbon free footprints is the new buzzword keeping in view of the world wide environmental concerns. This got further push due to ever spiraling oil prices and subsequent affect of petro-dollar imports on union budget. Worldwide transport is shifting from traditional petrol/diesel to electric vehicles(EV). Each passing month researchers are devising new batteries better than the previous ones and with more capacity to drive through more kilometers. India has also adopted the same and present GoI is rigorously pushing EVs, with stringent laws being getting implemented for pollution, more strict environmental standards for vehicles, in a way coercing all automobile companies to opt for EV or hybrid models of vehicles. On the same pattern GoI has instructed Jammu and Kashmir administration to go for special incentive drive for all Government employees to adopt EVs instead of traditional petrol/diesel. This is more important from the environmental point of view of UT’s ecological system. With each passing year global warming is having serious impact on snow covered mountains and glaciers prevalent in our UT and resultant ecological disastrous effects we have already seen in the shape of cloud bursts and flash floods. It is also important to mention that power infra of UT has experienced a dynamic upgrade to the extent we have all weather transmission lines.
On the administration part development of charging stations with 24×7 electricity provisions, more specifically in Government offices’ parking are needed. Easy finance facility is being offered for both two wheelers and four wheelers so that all employees can take advantage of the golden offer. It is indeed a big step towards zero emission transport system and timing is perfect.
