JAMMU, Nov 30: All India Migrant Camp Coordination Committee (AIMCCC) today said that the District Development Committee (DDC) elections are useless for the displaced Kashmiri Pandits leading an exiled life for last 32 years as the successive Governments have failed to rehabilitate them in accordance to their geo-political aspirations in Kashmir valley.
The AIMCCC which met at Jagti today while taking the stock of the election process in the J&K said the democratic process has been useless for the hapless Kashmiri Pandits who were hounded out from Valley by terrorists and separatists in 1989-90 and since then the successive Governments despite making tall claims of rehabilitating the community in Kashmir have failed to take drastic steps in this regard.
The meeting said how long more the community which has made a tremendous contribution to Indian aesthetics will lead an exiled life and will be deprived of its fundamental rights. The meeting said that the displaced Pandits had pinned high hopes in present dispensation which took various bold steps in stemming the rot but it too is yet undecided on the rehabilitation of the displaced Pandits.
The meeting demanded that the Government should hold talks with the representatives of the community on their issues and take concrete steps for their rehabilitation in their homeland Kashmir.
