UDHAMPUR, Nov 30: In a major success against spread of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, Udhampur police today seized 27 kg of cannabis from two narcotic smugglers, who were held at naka point Tikri on the National Highway.
The accused were travelling in a truck (JK03J-6144), which was intercepted by a Police party, led by SHO Rehambal, Inspector Chaman Gorka and assisted by SI Jaswinder Singh, IC PP Tikri. During search of the truck, approx 27 kg of cannabis like substance was recovered from possession of the accused, who were arrested on the spot.
The identity of the narcotic smugglers was established as Danish Rehman, son of Abdul Rehman Dar of Bijbehara, Anantnag and Aabid Ahmed Reshi, son of Abdul Hameed Reshi of Bijbehara, Anantnag.
The narcotic consignment along with the involved vehicle was seized. In this connection, a case under relevant sections of law has registered at PS Rehambal and further investigation of the case is underway.
