I
Sir,
This has reference to the news regarding poll announcement.
The Election Commission of India has announced the dates for the 16th Lok Sabha. The political parties too are busy with poll preparation which include selection of candidates and framing of manifestoes. But the main elements in this exercise are the voters. It is reported this year, there will be 10 crore more voters than 2009. Over 2.3 voters are in 18-19 age group.
To strengthen the democracy in the country, it is essential that voters exercise their right to franchise with great discretion. It is the responsibility of the voter to choose right candidates to Parliament. They should not have criminal, corrupt or communal tag attached with them. The presence of these elements in August House defiles its sanctity. The 15th Lok Sabha witnessed many disgusting scenes which shocked the nation.
To avoid such a situation again, it is quite imperative that voters elected candidates who would perform to the expectations of people and strengthen democratic process in the country.
Yours etc…
