SAMBA, Dec 23: An elderly man was knocked to death by an unknown Maruti van near Ghagwal on Jammu-Pathankote National Highway late this evening.
The mishap took place at around 8 pm when 70-year-old Shiv Ram, son of Punnu Ram, resident of Tapyal in Ghagwal. While the van sped away and man was rushed to local hospital where doctors declared him as brought dead.
The police registered a case and started search for the vehicle and its driver.
The police claimed that vehicle number has been identified by one of the locals and accused will be held shortly.
