JAMMU, May 6: An elderly man was today found murdered in a park near Gundoo Chawani falling within the limits of police post Residency Road.
According to a police spokesman, the man identified as Ramesh Lal (62) son of Varinder, a resident of Gundoo Chawani and a ‘Halwai’ by profession was found dead at Lala Hans Raj Park near his residence.
Quoting the family members of the deceased, the spokesman said that Ramesh used to sleep in the park for last 10-12 days in view of hot weather and congested space in his residence and last night also he was sleeping there.
“In the wee hours of today, some morning walkers found his blood ridden dead body with head injury lying on the ground of the park and informed the family and police”, he said adding, a police party reached the spot and shifted the body of the deceased to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, where after conducting postmortem it was handed over to its legal heirs for last rites.
The spokesman said that in this connection a case under Section 302 RPC was registered at City police station and further investigations were underway.
