KOLKATA: Big time producers Ekta Kapoor has joined hands with Tollywood to churn out freshly-minted episodes for the couch potatos in the first such iniitiative in Benngalin soaps.
“My objective is to make interesting TV shows. We will try to dish out some interesting stories,” Ekta, who has been instrumental in the turnaround of Hindi serials in past several years, told here.
Observing Bengal has a wide array of content-rich literary works, Ekta said, “Some of these literary works I am exposed to already.”
“Such a wide spectrum of literature. Some of these might be old, some might be new, But all heart tugging. Sougata Nandi of Chhayabani will do it on my behalf as well,” she said adding the future move of Balaji Telefilms will depend on how the small screen audience eventually react to the show.
Actor Badshah Moitra, a TV star and popular big screen actor, said with art house and commercial films spawning a new mixed genre in Bollywood as well as in serials, the same trend may come up in Bengal with a big national level producer like Ekta Kapoor now storming Bengal telly domain.
“It is a synergy between a local production house like Chhayabani and a giant like Ekta kapoor which will ensure the quality content of the soap is not sacrificed for TRPs,” he said.
‘Abar Byomkesh’ actor Sampurna Lahiri, having got offers of a Bollywood project recently, sais the move will help in making Bengali serials global like recent Tollywood movies. (AGENCIES)
