Eid festival for soldier’s family turns into mourning

POONCH, June 14: The Eid festival for the young soldier, hailing from  Mendhar area of district Poonch turned into mourning after his family received an information about his kidnapping by militants and later killing in Shopian area of Kashmir.
27-yerar-old Aurangzeb, son of Ex-serviceman, Click here to watch video Mohd Hanief, resident of village Salani in Mendhar, was returning home from Pulwama to join his family on Eid festival. He was serving in 4 JAKLI and was presently deployed with 44 RR in Kashmir.
After the family came to know about the kidnapping of  their dear one  by militants during noon through social media, they were shell shocked. His mother Raj Begum and other women in the family kept wailing for long issuing appeal to the militants to release Aurangzeb on the occasion  Eid and Holi month of Ramzan. Many media-persons and people from local Administration and security agencies thronged soldier’s home at Salani after they came to know about the incident.
A pall of  gloom descended the Salani village after the family and relatives came to know about the killing of Aurangzeb by his captors in Shopian forest area late this evening.
His father, a retired defence personnel said that he had talked to his son at around 5 am today and asked whether he has taken `Sehri’. Aurangzeb told that he got three day leave for Eid and was coming home on Thursday noon. Hanief said that he  tried to establish contact at around 10 am with his son but thereafter no contact could be established with him. His phone was not responding.  He was travelling to his home in civil dress from Pulwama and was waiting for another Poonch bound vehicle at Shopian. His Sumo vehicle was intercepted by some gunmen and he was taken away while others were asked to move ahead.
Auragnzeb’ another brother and his uncle are also serving in Army. His one uncle had gone to meet him in his unit hardly four days back. The family was waiting for the arrival of the dead body of his dear one tomorrow.
