Educational institutions, various organizations celebrate Christmas

JAMMU, Dec 25: Christmas was celebrated with gaiety and religious fervour.
SM Shishu Niketan Higher Secondary School, Anand Nagar celebrated Christmas. Chairperson Santosh Mahajan, Managing Director Parneesh Mahajan, liaison officer Harvinder Singh Sihotra, Principal Sunita Koul, staff members and students were present. The celebration started with a special assembly in which students of higher classes highlighted the concept behind the Christmas celebrations. A Christmas tree was decorated with buntings, bells, stars, whereas gifts and sweets were distributed among the gathering. Toddlers attired as Santa Claus and fairies presented cultural items.
Christmas was celebrated by Vishu Public School, Hari Nagar, Old Janipur. The chief guest on the occasion was Sushil Kumar and Preeti Bhasin was the guest of honour. BD Sharma, Principal of the school, presented the welcome address. Students presented various cultural items. Later prizes were distributed among the participants.
Christmas and New Year was celebrated with great pomp and show by young scholars of Rich Harvest. On the occasion Ruchi Charak, Trustee, Dr Shivani Singh, Principal and staff members were present. Children attired in beautiful Santa Claus and fairies dresses distributed sweets. Christmas trees were decorated with glittering bunting, bells, stars, gifts and sweets as well as many activities were the centre of attraction for all children. Games stalls were also setup and students took part in all games with enthusiasm.
Euro Care Pre School, Trikuta Nagar celebrated Christmas with great zeal and enthusiasm. Children cut the Christmas cake, whereas Santa Claus distributed gifts. Students of the school also visited Church at Gandhi Nagar and offered prayers. Principal Ritu Beri threw light on the importance of the day and also highlighted the teachings of Lord Jesus Christ.
Kidzee Pre School celebrated Christmas in all its branches located at Anand Nagar, Talab Tillo, Gandhi Nagar and Channi Himmat. The celebration started with a special assembly in which the kids were given demonstration depicting the birth of Lord Jesus Christ. The toddlers were dressed as Santa Claus. A trip to Church was also organised.
Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) Commissioner Kiran Wattal along with his family members, Municipal Veterinary Officer and other staff of JMC celebrated Christmas in the premises of Mother Teresa Charitable Trust, Tali Morh. All the deaf and dumb people along with incharge of the said trust and other members were present. Sweets were distributed by the Commissioner and his family among the deaf and dumb people and the staff. Kiran Wattal extended support for the development of the trust.
Indian Red Cross Society and Childline celebrated Christmas with the inmates of Inner Wheel Home for Mentally Retarded Children at Channi Rama. Christmas songs were sung by Jimmi and his team, followed by prayers by Prince. Cakes and chocolates were distributed among the children. Physical activities were performed by the inmates of the home. RK Sharma, Administrator of the home, Ajeet Kumar Sahu, DC and Chairman, DRCS, Atul Goel, SSP, Vice Chairman, DRCS, Yougal Mahajan, Suresh Sharma, secretary, OP Gupta and Rameshwar Sharma were also present.
Socialistic Democratic Party (SDP) celebrated Christmas at its party office Shastri Nagar. President Dr Darakhshan Andrabi, State youth president and nominee for Jammu-Poonch Parliamentary seat along with Mandeep Singh distributed sweets to children at Valmiki Nagar Colony Church. They distributed festival dresses to children and sang Christmas songs. Later Gursagar Singh and Mandeep Singh organised a special prayer session at Gandhi Nagar Church which was attended by Father Antony Captain and Father Shaija.
Mahavir Society of Education and Research led by the Chairman HL Abrol visited Mother Teresa Home for Old Age Persons and Destitute at Janipur to celebrate Christmas. Abrol along with his colleagues distributed blankets among the inmates of the home. Vinod Manhas, Shammi Slathia and Suresh Kumar were also present.
Junior Chamber International (JCI) celebrated Christmas at Mother Teresa Old Age Home, Talli Morh. The members of JCI cut the cake and also distributed candies, chocolates and other eatables and books to old age persons. President Bhushan Verma, Neelam Verma, vice president, Surjit Singh, treasurer, Vivek Gupta, Director, besides other members of JCI were also present.
Residents Welfare Committee, Sector 4, Roop Nagar organised “Christmas Meet”, in which all the residents participated actively. Narinder Sharma president of the committee presided over the meet. Sweets were distributed among the children.
