Educational Institutions celebrate Independence Day with patriotic zeal

JAMMU, Aug 16: Various Educational Institutions celebrated 71st Independence Day with patriotic zeal and enthusiasm, here.
The 71st Independence Day of India was celebrated at the University of Jammu with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervour. Prof RD Sharma, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu unfurled the National Flag at the Fountain Plaza and released the Tri Colour Balloons. Earlier, Prof. Satnam Kour, Dean Students Welfare, delivered the welcome address, while Prof. Kamal Kapoor, Co-Chairman Campus Culture Committee presented the formal vote of thanks.
The 71st Independence Day was observed at Shri Mata vaishno Devi University with great fanfare and gaiety. The day began with arrival of the Vice Chancellor Dr. Sanjeev Jain for Guard of Honour at Inaugural Plaza who unfurled the National Flag. In his address he emphasized the importance of the heritage of the freedom struggle and the contemporary challenges to the freedom today. The Board of Cultural Activities presented a cultural show in the Matrika Auditorium.
IIM Sirmaur celebrated the 71st Independence Day of India with zeal and zest. Prof (Dr) Neelu Rohmetra, Director, IIM Sirmaur unfurled the National Flag, which was followed by the singing of the National Anthem. Addressing on the occasion, Prof Rohmetra emphasized on the role of the youth in taking the nation forward. On the occasion, Rang Manch and the Cultural Committee of IIM Sirmaur presented variety of cultural items.
Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University celebrated the 71st Independence Day with patriotic fervour. Prof. Iqbal Perwez, Registrar BGSBU welcomed the gathering and unfurled the Tri-Colour. Speaking on the occasion he said that freedom is the birthright of every human being and slavery is not only a tragedy but a curse.
The Principal, students and staff of Govt. Gandhi Memorial Science College, Jammu celebrated 71st Independence Day in the premises of the College. GHS Sallan organized a function in the school premises in connection with Independence Day. Headmaster, Sullan Kali Dass hoisted the National Flag. A large number of locals and students including Panches and Sarpanches participated in the programme.
GHS Khui Millan also celebrated Independence Day. The Tricolor was hoisted by Headmaster, Prakash Chand in the presence of staff and students. National Anthem was sung by the staff and students. Later, cultural activities were also presented by the students.
The 71st Independence Day was celebrated with great fervor and enthusiasm in GHS, Kundra (Reasi). Incharge Head Master of the School, Ganesh Das unfurled the Tricolour and all in unison sang the melodious strains of the National Anthem which charged up the atmosphere with patriotic spirit. The Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm by GHS Chore Motto (Udhampur), where Headmaster Kuldeep Kumar Gupta, unfurled the Tricolour. Patriotic songs and skits were presented by the students of the school.
GHS Sarote celebrated Independence Day with patriotic fervor. The students participated in the festive with great zeal. Incharge Headmaster, Yogesh Sharma, along with staff members hoisted the Tricolor. The VEC members graced the occasion as guests of honour.
An Independence Day function was also organized in the premises of GGHS, Kachi Chowni. MLA Jammu East, Rajesh Gupta, hoisted the Tricolour in the presence of staff and students. Various cultural activities were also organized by the students.
GHS Sirah (Reasi) celebrated Independence Day with great pomp and show. Students and staff of adjoining schools also participated in the programme. Headmaster of the school, Lal Chand, unfurled the National Flag. It was followed by march past and presentation of cultural items by the students.
A colourful programme to celebrate Independence Day was organized in the premises of GHS Sagoon, where Dittu Ram, Numberdar of the village, unfurled the tricolor. The students sang National Anthem and patriotic songs.

Govt. Girls High School Baliyal (Rajpura Mandi) celebrated Independence Day with great enthusiasm and fervour. Headmaster of the school hoisted the National Flag which was followed by a variety of cultural items.
