JAMMU, Sept 28: Various Educational institutions across Jammu City and adjoining areas celebrated Gandhi Jayanti and Dussehra with enthusiasm and fervour, here today.
DPS Jammu organized a special assembly on the occasion of Dussehra festival and Gandhi Jayanti. The assembly began with the floral tributes paid to the Father of Nation ‘Mahatma Gandhi’ who preached peace, truthfulness and non-violence and finally achieved India’s independence after great struggle with Britishers. This was followed by Gandhi Ji’s favourite bhajans “Vaishnav Jan” and “Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram.” Principal, DPS Jammu, Ruchi Chabra highlighted the importance of the day.
Mother Montessori International (London) celebrated Dussehra with zeal and zest in the school premises today. Khushboo, Class Mentor of Playgroup explained the significance of Dussehra and said that it signifies victory of good over evil, light over darkness and happiness over gloom. A small skit on Dussehra was also performed by the students on the occasion. Directors of the School, Bhawna Rohmetra and Sapna Rohmetra and Principal MMI (London), congratulated the team of MMI for presenting a wonderful programme.
The birthday of the Father of the Nation ‘Mahatma Gandhi’ was celebrated at Dewan Devi Playway and Higher Secondary School, Rajpura Jammu with gaiety. The Chairman of Shool,  Subhash Chander Suri spoke on life of Mahatama Gandhi on the occasion.Ram Navmi and Dussehra festival were also celebrated  with great vigour and enthusiasm by the school.
To celebrate the victory of good over evil, RMPS celebrated Navratri, Dussehra and Gandhi Jayanti in the school premises today.
The programme started with Kanya poojan where the Trustee Rita Mengi, Principal Ravinder Kaur, Vice Principal Magan Grover, In-charges and Co-ordinators, teachers did the traditional Kanya Poojan.
Dussehra was celebrated at Rich Harvest School, Bari Brahmana. Various activities including speeches on Dussehra, poetic Ramayana and a dance on Hanuman Chalisa glorified the occasion. Trustee Ruchi Charak and Principal Anita Bhatia blessed the participants and students while inspiring them to follow the path of truth.
KIDZEE,    a pre-school of ZEE Learn Ltd. celebrated Ramnavmi, Dussehra and Gandhi Jayanti at its branches namely Anand Nagar Bohri, Gandhi Nagar, Channi Himmat, Talab Tillo and Trikuta Nagar with religious fervour and enthusiasm.
The function started with the special assembly in which the teachers gave demonstration regarding the occasions in which students and staff delivered relevant speeches.
Mount Litera Zee School Jammu celebrated Ram Navmi, Dussehra and Gandhi Jayanti in the school premises with religious fervour and enthusiasm in the presence of Chairman Er Parneesh Mahajan, Liaison Officer Harvinder Singh Sihotra, Principal Manikarnika Bhasin, Coordinator Radhika Mahajan, staff and students.
Delhi Public School, Leh conducted Special Assembly to celebrate Ramnavmi and Dusshera here in Leh for the Pre-Primary and Primary Wing of the school. The students came into different attires and make-up to match with the character of Rama, Lakshamana, Sita Mata, Barat, Veer Hanuman and Ravana. Principal of the school, Subhash Kumar Baldotra while addressing the students asked them to follow the teachings of their respective religions as every religion teaches us the lesson of goodness, love, fraternity, truthfulness, kindness, honesty etc.
May Fair Schools Chand Nagar, Chinore and Janipur branches celebrated the festival of Dussehra with pomp and show here today.
Dressed in traditional Indian attire, the students performed narrative, choral speaking, drama and dances to portray how the people of each region celebrate this important festival.
Primary Wing of Nav Adarsh Higher Secondary School, Kathua celebrated Navratri with great joy and vigour. The students of all classes from Level I to Class V came dressed in traditional Garba and Dandia attire which made for a spectacular visual treat for everyone to see and relish. Chairperson of the school, Lalita Katal presided over the whole event.
Nightingale Pre-School celebrated Gandhi Jayanti with enthusiasm and fervour today. Vice President State BJP, Yudhvir Sethi was the chief guest on the occasion. He lauded the efforts of the school in organizing extra-curricular activities. Sethi spoke on the importance of the day. Social activist Kewal Wadhera presided over the function, while Principal of the School Sonia Jain was also present on the occasion.
SCIENTIA International School, Bantalab, organized  a ‘Colourful Dandiya Night’ with great zeal and excitement in the school premises. The entire school was crowded with people who had come in glittering dresses for the celebrations, music and dance at the Dandiya Night. Principal Bharti Bhardwaj presented a beautiful dandiya item. Special awards like Best Dress and Best Couple Dance were also presented.
J&K Police Public School, Miran Sahib, Jammu celebrated Dussehra Festival and Gandhi Jayanti in the School premises today. The day began with a special assembly, wherein students were dressed up in different characters of Ramlila. Principal of the School Sanjeev Pradhan spoke on the occasion and threw light on the significance of the day.
Apple Kids International Pre-School, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu celebrated Dussehra in the school premises, here today. Te children were dressed up in red colours and burnt the effigy of Ravana under safety rules, without crackers. Principal of the school spoke on the importance of the day.
Meanwhile, SKUAST Jammu ABVP unit organized  Ghandi Jayanti, under the leadership of President Ali Haidar Shah. The chief guest on the occasion was Dr Vikas Sharma, President TAJ SKUAST. He highlighted life history of Gandhi Ji and appreciated the university students for organizing the event.
