Educational institutions celebrate Dr BR Ambedkar Jayanti

JAMMU, Apr 13: Different educational institutions paid rich homage to Dr BR Ambedkar-the architect of the Indian Constitution by holding different programmes on the eve of his Jayanti across Jammu division, today.
NSS unit of GGM Science College organised quiz competition observing Dr Ambedkar Jayanti and also paid tribute to martyrs of Jallianwalla Bagh massacre under the patronage of College Principal, Dr Ravender Tickoo. The event was organised under the supervision of NSS PO Dr Deepali Mahajan wherein about 10 teams comprising two students each participated in the quiz competition which was coordinated by Aaghav Arora and Shubam Kumar.
A symposium was held by the Department of Sociology, Government Degree College Nowshera in collaboration with NSS unit to celebrate Dr Ambedkar Jayanti on the theme “Different facets of Dr BR Ambedkar’s life Journey” wherein College Principal Dr Surinder Kumar Sharma was the chief guest.
Department of Education and Political Science, GDC Paloura organized a seminar commemorating the birth anniversary of Dr Ambedkar, wherein about 15 NSS volunteers and NCC cadets presented their views on the topic “Dr BR Ambedkar: Architect of Modern India.” The programme was judged by Prof Pinki Manhas and Prof Pooja Sharma.
NSS Unit of Government College of Education Jammu under the patronage of Principal Dr Kulvinder Kour organized Essay Writing Competition on the theme “Life and Philosophy of Dr B R Ambedkar” on Ambedkar Jayanti.
The competition was organized by the NSS Programme Officer Dr Shubhra Jamwal and her team Prof Sarita Dogra, Prof Shapia Shameem, Prof Seema Kumari and Prof Neeraj Verma. The entries will be accepted till April 17 and the results will be announced on April 20. The Principal appreciated the efforts of NSS Unit in leaving no stone unturned to engage the volunteers in all the important activities.
One day seminar on ‘Remembering and recalling the contribution of Dr BR Ambedkar’ was organised by Govt College of Education Jammu wherein Prof CL Shivgotra and Sunita Bangotra were the resources persons. Prof Shivgotra spoke about the role of Dr Ambedkar for the upliftment of oppressed sections of society, while Sunita Bangotra shared the contributions of Ambedkar towards women’s empowerment.
GDC Nagrota celebrated the Jayanti by organising a programme in which College Principal Dr Nalini Pathania shared her views about independent India’s first Law Minister, who was the Principal architect of the Constitution of India and a founding father of the Republic of India. The students staged a play on the role of Ambedkar which was witnessed by all the staff members and students.
GDC Ukhral organised a seminar on “Role of Ambedkar in Framing Indian Constitution” which was inaugurated by College Principal Prof (Dr.) Ranvijay Singh. In his address, the Principal highlighted the contributions of Ambedkar in framing and designing the Indian Constitution wherein students participated and presented their papers on the occasion including Unchal Singh, Altaf Hussain, and Mohd. Yousaf.
On the eve of the birth anniversary of Dr Ambedker and Jallianwala Bagh massacre the NSS unit GDC Kathua organised a symposium and paid floral tribute to both Dr Ambedkar and martyrs of the massacre. The programme was started with the formal welcome note addressed by NSS, PO Prof Ritu Raj Sharma; thereafter the students and volunteers presented their views on the life, struggle and achievements of Dr Ambedker. The programme was organised under the NSS Program Officers Prof. Manmohan Singh.
To celebrate the birth anniversary of Dr Ambedkar, BOMIS Jammu held a special assembly wherein teachings of the first Law Minister were elaborated with the audience. The students were taught about the remarkable contribution of Dr Ambedkar in framing the entire Indian Constitution after independence.
A webinar was organised to commemorate the Jayanti on the topic ‘Major Work and Contribution of Dr. BR Ambedkar’ by the Dogra Degree College and enlightened the students about the life history of Ambedkar on virtual platforms. The event was organized under the supervision of Navneet Singh, Lecturer Political Science.
Government Degree College Bani organized a special lecture to commemorate birth anniversary under the supervision of College Principal, Dr Vishal Sharma wherein Dr Fayaz, Department of Political Science delivered the lecturer about the contribution of Dr Ambedkar in drafting the Constitution of India that guarantees and provides a wide range of civil liberties for individual citizens.
The Cultural Cell of GDC Dudu Basantgarh observed the Jayanti by organizing ‘Quiz Competition’ on the theme “Be Educated, Be Organized, and Be Agitated”. The main objective of the programme was to make students aware about the contribution of Baba Saheb towards India. The programme was hosted by Convener of the Cultural Cell, Prof. Rahul Sharma.
GDC Bishnah celebrated the Ambedkar Jayanti by holding a seminar on ‘Life and Vision of Dr BR Ambedkar”. The programme started with paying floral tribute to the architect of Indian Constitution wherein the participants threw light on the life and vision of Dr BR Ambedkar for the upliftment of the downtrodden section of the society in particular.
NSS unit GDC Marh under the patronage of College Principal Prof Aekta Gupta celebrated the Jayanti wherein students and faculty members participated. She briefed the students about the implications of the teachings of Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar in the present era and congratulated the entire faculty on the eve of Baisakhi and Ambedkar Jayanti. An exhibition on the ‘Best out of waste material’ was also held.
Govt College for Women Bhagwati Nagar organised a symposium on the topic “Philosophy of Dr BR Ambedkar” wherein students and faculty members of the College paid a tribute to Dr Ambedkar who was a social reformer, jurist, economist, author, a great scholar and thinker. The program was inaugurated by the College Principal, Prof Minnie Sharma.
The NSS unit of GDC Kakryal in collaboration with the Department of History celebrated the birth anniversary of Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar under the guidance of College Principal Dr CK Khajuria. On this occasion, a documentary on the life and contribution of Dr Ambedkar was shown to the students.
Shiksha Niketan Senior Secondary School Jeevan Nagar celebrated the Baisakhi festival as well as birthday of Dr BR Ambedkar with traditional fervour and gaiety by organising a special morning assembly in the school premises. The programme started with a lamp lighting ceremony, thereafter the students presented various cultural items on the occasion.
The Ambedkar Jayanti as well as Baisakhi festival was also celebrated by Unique Public Senior Secondary School in its School premises wherein students were attired in Punjabi outfits and performed mesmerizing Bhangra on Dhol students recited numerous poems related to Baisakhi and enlightened the audience about role Ambedkar in making Indian Constitution.
Dogra Higher Secondary School Shastri Nagar Jammu celebrated the Baisakhi festival and birth anniversary of Dr BR Ambedkar with great enthusiasm and religious fervour under the supervision of Managing Director, Gambhir Dev Singh Charak. A colourful cultural program was presented by students.
