Educational institutions celebrate 550th Prakash Utsav of Guru Nanak Dev Ji

JAMMU, Nov 11: Different educational institutions here today celebrated 550th Prakash Utsav (birth anniversary) of Guru Nanak Dev Ji and remembered his teachings.
The 550th birth anniversary of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji was celebrated at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), Katra. The event was jointly organized by Sikh Sangat of the varsity and SMVD Narayana Hospital, Katra. The event started with the recitation of Sukhmani Sahib followed by Kirtan and Gurbani. At the end Guru Ka Langer was served. Everyone paid obeisance to Guru Sahib and remembered his preaching of humanity.
On the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji Government Degree College (GDC) Khour organised a symposium on ‘Teachings of Guru Nanak’. The programme commenced with lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the Principal, Dr. Sushma Mahajan. The students threw light on the teachings of oneness and humanity as preached by Baba Nanak. Gokal Patyar, Shivani Bhagat and Bharti Devi bagged 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes respectively.
On the eve of 550th Parkash Diwas of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, Mahant Bachittar Singh College of Engineering and Technology organized a blood donation camp in association with Guru Nanak Langer Mission and J&K Thalassemia Welfare Society to promote the message of Guru Nanak Dev Ji to serve humanity. A total of 64 students voluntarily donated blood.
Sant Mela Singh College of Education organised Gurbani Kirtan to celebrate 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Different speakers on this occasion threw light on the preaching of Baba Nanak Ji and his message of brotherhood. The programme concluded with the serving of Langar.
G.D Goenka Public School Jammu celebrated the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji with fervour and enthusiasm. The celebrations commenced with melodious devotional songs. The children threw light on the teachings of Guru Nanak Ji and offered prayers to Almighty. They also presented sword fight and chakra show. Principal of the School, Rajesh Rathore motivated the children to inculcate the teachings of Guru Nanak Ji in their lives to become better human beings.
Banyan International School organized a special assembly to mark the 550th birth anniversary celebrations of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. About 150 toddlers and staff of pre-primary wing visited Gurudwara, Jeevan Nagar to instil the idea of service to humanity, love and affection among children.
Delhi Public School organized a special assembly to celebrate 550th Parkash Utsav of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. The celebrations commenced with a prayer after which the students recited ‘Shabad Kirtan’. Bhuvandeep Singh, Kunwar Raj Singh and Navgun Singh—students threw light on the teachings of Guru Ji. President RCT, M.K Ajatshatru Singh; PVC Kunwarani Ritu Singh and Director, S.S Sodhi extended Guruparab greetings to the students, their parents, staff and their families.
Stephens International Public School, Miran Sahib celebrated 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. A special assembly was organised in the school premises in which students performed Kirtan. A Prabhat Pheri was also taken out which created the religious vibes around the campus. An inter-house Shabad recitation competition was also held and Guru Ka Langar was also served on the occasion.
A special assembly was organised at MHAC School Nagbani to mark the 550th birth anniversary celebrations of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. The students marked the Prakash Parav with various activities and shared useful information about the life and teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Shabad-Kirtan was recited by the students.
Shiksha Niketan Senior Secondary School Jeevan Nagar celebrated 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Verses of ‘Shri Sukhmani Sahib’ were recited and a serene and calm atmosphere was created by the ‘Shabad’ sung by the children. The students also discussed the importance of Guru Nanak Ji teachings. Guru Ka Langar was also served on this occasion.
Birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji was celebrated with enthusiasm and fervour at MPS Barnoti where a special assembly was organised. A visit to Rajbagh Gurudwara was also organized for the students to enlighten them about Sikh Gurus and their contribution to the society at large.
On birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Ji, a special function was held at Humanity Public School during which the students threw light on the life journey of Guru Nanak Ji. The students presented colourful dances, songs etc while Shabad-Kirtan and Gatkha was appreciated by all amidst thundering applause.
R.M Public School celebrated 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Verses of Sukhmani Sahib were recited by the teachers and Shabad-Kirtan was performed by the students. Golden words of Guru Nanak Dev Ji—Kirat Karna, Wand Chhakna and Naam Japna were highlighted. Kadah Prasad was also distributed among the students and teachers.
Doon International School celebrated Guru Nanak Dev Jayanti with zeal and fervour. A special assembly was organised wherein the students recited Shabad-Kirtan. The highlight of the programme was Gatkha by junior students displaying valour.
Mount Litera Zee School, Tarore Bridge also celebrated the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
British International School celebrated 550th birth anniversary of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji with fervour, devotion and enthusiasm to promote national integration and communal harmony. Subha Mehta, Deputy Director Tourism was the chief guest while the students presented a variety of cultural programmes which started with the recitation of Shabad Kirtan.
Government High School Seri Panditan organised a programme to commemorate the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Ji. A lecture was organised on this occasion where Karuna Bajaj, teacher, threw light on the life and teachings of Guru Nanak Ji.
Euro Toddlers, a Pre-School at UNO Lane Talab Tillo celebrated Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s 550th birth anniversary with great zeal. Toddlers were taken to Gurudwara where facilitators told them the story of Guru Nanak Dev Ji which gave the message of universal brotherhood.
Pushp Vatika celebrated 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. All the students and teachers joined Shabad-Kirtan recitation programme while the students also participated in Gatkha. Some teachers threw light on the life of Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
Stepping Stone Play-way School organised a Gurudwara visit for the students to mark 550th birth anniversary of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
Management, staff and students of Rich Harvest School celebrated 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Obeisance was paid to Guru Ji by the recitation of Gurubani by the students. Principal, Anita Bhatia urged the children to inculcate the teachings of Guru Ji which include universal brotherhood, love, humility, simplicity, equality, tolerance etc.
Tanker Drivers’ Union celebrated the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Ji. Senior leaders of the Union like S. Davinder Singh, Sohan Singh and others prayed for world peace and harmony which are included in the teachings of Guru Nanak Ji.
Innerwheel Club of Jammu celebrated 550th Prakash Utsav of Guru Nanak Dev Ji at Hotel Asia. About 52 Club members participated. Mohani Sharma, Chairperson of R.K College of Education recited Shabad-Kirtan while Reva Raina threw light on the life and teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
