KATRA, Jan 1: Anupama Jaiswal, Education Minister (Basic), Uttar Pradesh, today visited Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), Katra, and interacted with Dr Sanjeev Jain, Vice Chancellor, SMVDU.
During the meeting, , Anupama Jaiswal discussed various issues related to higher education and women empowerment. She was quite impressed to know the progress made by SMVDU in a short span of time, while securing a ranking in the top 100 Engineering institutes and top 150 universities by the NIRF 2018 Ranking, MHRD, GoI.
Dr Jain briefed the minister that students from 23 States have been studying in SMVDU, which is a leading institute in the J&K region in terms of filing patents. Dr Jain also informed the minister about the preparations and progress made by the university, keeping in view the NAAC team visit on 7th, 8th and 9th January 2019.
Jaiswal also visited various Schools and interacted with respective Heads. Other university officials, Prof V K Bhat, Registrar; Vinod Sharma, Administrative Officer; Samir Vora, Asst Registrar and Rakesh Jha, Associate Dean (R&D), informed the UP Education Minister about short-term goals of the university.
