Education is essential for a happy human society. It broadens and enlarges our understanding and sympathy. It makes us aware of our human and social obligations. It teaches us to be responsibile to the world that is ours. Life without social responsibilities would be chaotic. Democracies thrive when people are willing to sacrifice their selfish interests for the welfre of people around them. People flourish when they are ready to give up their claims for the claims of the society. It is education alone which tells us to behave like a responsible citizen in society.
Education liberates our mind from biases and prejudices. It frees our mind from ideas which are harmful. Education emancipates us from social, cultural and religious sackles and snobberies. It tells us to leave rites and rituals which stop or prevent the growth of mind, create division between man and man. Education is a force which unites and cements hearts and souls. It is a cohseive force. It tells us to fight forces of division and disintegration.
Education enables us to make our living. It teaches us skills to earn our bread. It makes good scientists and technocrats. Scientific education has changed the face of the earth. India has been able to makes people literate to a large extent.
