Edu institutions, others celebrate Prakaram Diwas

JAMMU, Jan 23: Several educational institutions, individuals, organisations, and other political as well as a political activists celebrated the Prakaram Diwas here today.
On this day in 1897, the great freedom fighter Netaji Subash Chander Bose was born. This day is celebrated as Prakaram Diwas.
To celebrate the day, a flag hoisting ceremony was organised at Maheshpura Chowk near Government Medical College, Jammu by Netaji Subash Chander Bose Volunteer Association, J&K, where chairman of the association, Chander Mohan Sharma described Netaji as a role model of patriotism and sacrifice for the new generation.
NSS unit of Government College of Engineering & Technology, Jammu, celebrated the Prakaram Diwas by organising a poster making competition on the theme “Life history of Subash Chander Bose”.
NSS unit of GDC Mahanpur, Kathua, celebrated the birth anniversary of Netaji Subash Chander Bose by organising a programme “Selfie with Netaji” and poster making programmes. A documentary on the life of Netaji was also screened at the college campus.
Government Degree College Basohli organised a symposium on the topic “Role of Netaji Subash Chander Bose in the freedom of India” to observe the Prakaram Diwas.
NSS unit of Government Gandhi Memorial Science College also paid homage to the freedom fighter Netaji Subash Chander Bose, where speakers highlighted the contribution of Bose in the freedom struggle.
NCC and NSS cadets of Government Degree College Paloura, Mishriwala celebrated the Prakaram Diwas by organising a poster making competition on the life and achievements of Subash Chander Bose under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
A programme to observe the Prakaram Diwas was also organised by the NSS unit of GDC Jourian, where students created a selfie-point within the educational institute to commemorate the freedom fighter.
In continuation to Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, the AKAM Cell and NSS Units of the GDC Udhampur also remembered Subash Chander Bose on his birth anniversary. The college principal, Prof. Ramesh Kumar Gupta accentuated for imbibing the spirit of Netaji in life and actions.
National Democratic Party Indian (NDPI) chief Rajesh Gupta described Netaji as a towering personality of the Indian freedom struggle and remembered the latter for his leadership skills, patriotism, and role in the formation of the Indian National Army (INA).
DAP leader and DDC BK Pora Saima Jan also paid tributes to Netaji Subash Chander Bose for his role in India’s freedom struggle.
