JAMMU, Jan 23: The Congress Party had deprived the Valmiki community in Jammu and Kashmir of their basic rights for 70 years.
This was stated by Vijay Anand Gill, Prabhari Rashtriya Valmiki Sena, while addressing a press conference in Jammu today.
Gill lambasted the Rahul Gandhi for taking out `Bharat Jodo Yatra’ as it was the same Congress Party which had denied them their due rights while sitting at the Centre.
He said the revocation of provisions of Article 370 has given hope to the Valmiki community members, who live on the land allocated to their ancestors brought from Punjab by J&K government in 1957 but was denied state’s ‘subjectship’ and entailing rights. He said since 1957 the children of Valmiki community were deprived of their rights and had been forced to do only one job in the erstwhile state.
Gill expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister Modi who abrogated Art 370 from the erstwhile state and gave freedom to the Valmiki community by providing equal rights to them at par with other citizens of the Jammu and Kashmir.
He asserted that after abrogation of Article 370 and 35-A all the doors closed by the successive Governments of J&K have been thrown open by the BJP led Narendra Modi Government in one go. Now, our children can also dream big and can reach to the higher posts of administration by competing with the children of other community.
Jhon Sabharwal, Ram Singh, Mangat Ram, Raju Athwal, Anwar Masih, Bab Mahinder Dass, Adarsh Jathayar were also present during press conference.
