EDLWU demands compensation for family of lineman

JAMMU, July 5: J&K Electric Department Lineman and Workers Union (EDLWU) demanded compensation for the lineman killed in a mishap while on duty.
In a meeting of the Union held here today the members  took serious view on the part of the JE in which a lineman died due to his negligence and carelessness. The president of the Union Simar Singh requested to Executive Engineer and Assistant Executive Engineer M&RE Division and Sub Division, Samba to ascertain the cause of the death of the lineman and also stressed upon the higher authorities of the department to hold inquiry into the  matter.
General secretary Girdhari Lal Bhagat demanded that  15 lakh be provided to the family of the deceased.  The Union urged the Chief Engineer M&RE Circle, Jammu to pay an amount of Rs 3.00 lacs from the Welfare funds to the family members within a period of 10 days and also appeal to issued instruction/directions to the subordinate staff that in future no such happening should take place.
