NEW DELHI: About a week after the Income Tax department conducted raids on multiple locations in Delhi and adjoining areas allegedly linked to RJD chief Lalu Prasad, the Enforcement Directorate has arrested a Chartered Accountant in its probe in the money laundering case.
Chartered Accountant Rajesh Agarwal has been arrested as part of probe into the Rs 8000 crore money laundering case being held under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), sources said here today.
Agarwal is allegedly linked to Lalu Prasad Yadav’s daughter Misa Bharti. The ED has identified at least 90 shell firms in this probe. It has identified 26 of them for allegedly laundering about Rs 62.20 crore.
Last week, Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley had said, ”People in high positions acquiring assets through shell companies is not a small matter. The day of reckoning has come for many. They all will be held accountable.” (AGENCIES)
