JAMMU, Oct 17: Office bearers of e-Rickshaw Transport Association today met with Deputy Commissioner Jammu and submitted a representation regarding challans of the e-Rickshaw drivers by the traffic police, here today.
During the meeting with the Deputy Commissioner, they said that during the announcement, the administration had announced that there is no need for any kind of registration, route permit as well as any driving license for operating these e-rickshaws in the region but ironically police authority is charging the drivers who are operating without licence and permit.
“We repeatedly asked the authorities concerned that the e-rickshaw is a very light vehicle with low speed and having no havoc to human life but they never seemed bothered about it and issued challans to the drivers on a regular basis,” they informed.
“We are ready to abide by all the rules and norms as framed by the Govt,” they said and requested the Deputy Commissioner to provide some individual identity cum driving permission to operate e-rickshaw.
