MENDHAR, June 10: Sub Divisional Police Officer Mendhar, DySP Shahid Nahim and three other Police personnel were injured in stone pelting on the police party by the violent mob at village Nakka Majari in Gursai area of Mendhar in district Poonch today.
Reports said the incident took place when the Police party led by SDPO Mendhar and SHO Gursai along with some policemen had gone to the area on the directions of the Deputy Commissioner Poonch for smashing some structures raised at a disputed land. Three persons namely Noor Ahmed, Maqbool and Mohd Alam residents of Nakka Majari were illegally occupying nearly 8 kanals of land belonging to one Mohd Aslam in Khasra No. 871 and they had also raised structures. There were some court orders and DC directed the SDPO and Tehsildar Mendhar for the compliance of the orders. Two Naib Tehsildars also accompanied them.
During the operation, the family members, relatives and supporters of three persons allegedly attacked police party with lathis and also resorted to stone pelting. DySP, received injury on his shoulder and arm and his mobile phone also fell down and got broken. Head Constable Shafaq Hussain, Constable Zabar Ahmed and SPO Shafqat Zabai were also injured in the attack.
The reinforcement from Mendhar was called and operation was launched vigorously and the structures were smashed and land cleared from the possession of these three families. The police registered a case against the accused persons and started search for them. They have gone underground.
