JAMMU, Apr 20: Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Kumar Singh today reviewed the functioning of the Housing and Urban Development Department at a high level meeting here today.
Reviewing the functioning of Jammu Development Authority (JDA), Dr Singh emphasized for creating modern infrastructure in the JDA owned colonies besides undertaking new projects as per the futuristic needs of the people of the Jammu. He also asked for proper demarcation of JDA land to avoid encroachments.
He asked Vice-Chairman JDA to submit a comprehensive report regarding land encroachments if any and the action taken thereof. He assured all help from the Government in removing encroachments.
Dr Singh asked the Director Local Bodies and Commissioner JMC to suggest means and implement them to make their organizations self-reliant.
The meeting was attended by the Vipul Pathak, Commissioner Secretary H&UDD, Shafiq Rana, MD J&K Housing Board, Mubarak Singh, VC JDA, Kuldeep Khajuria, Director Local Bodies Jammu, Joginder Singh, Chief Town Planner Jammu and V K Pant, Chief Architect J&K.
Deputy Chief Minister impressed upon the concerned officers to submit monthly report on works like sanitation drives, status of street lightening, besides the status of demolitions, birth death registrations received/issued, hygienic inspections, etc to this office and also asked for providing the data online.
Dr. Singh also called for visionary planning for catering to the population growth and increasing settlement in urban areas and directed for developing proper parking lots for the convenience of the people.
He also impressed upon the officers to work with zeal and dedication to develop Jammu as a smart city in a much planned way besides ensuring quality infrastructure.
Dr Singh also asked for developing effective mechanism for the monitoring of ongoing construction works undertaken by the Line Departments for creating valuable assets.
Earlier, Commissioner Secretary H&UDD, Vipul Pathak gave detailed resume of the activities of the organization and status of various development projects.
Other issues which were discussed in the meeting were development of a Cricket Stadium near Sidhra, promotions/seniority issues, buildings/land lying vacant and abandoned, uniform rates of mobile towers, solid waste management and placing dustbins at various locations etc.
