JAMMU, Oct 18: Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh and Minister of State for Education, Culture and Information, Priya Sethi today released a book ‘Aao Choo Lain Gagan’ on the life of Shaheed Amarnath Bhagat.
Recalling contribution of Shaheed Amarnath Bhagat, Deputy Chief Minister said Amarnath sacrificed his life for a common cause and stands tallest among the leaders of underprivileged communities in the State. He added that the teachings and principles of such leaders always inspire people to do something for the social cause selflessly. “The real tribute to any legendry lies not in mere celebrations but we should follow the footsteps of these social reformers who even sacrificed their comforts and lives for the cause of humanity”, he maintained.
The book describing the life and history of Shahed Amarnath Bhagat has been authored by Anil Bharati while Anusuchit Jati Morcha organised the book release function.
While assuring full support to the marginalised strata of the society, the Deputy Chief Minister said the Government has launched a number of schemes for the social, economic and political empowerment of every citizen of the society.
Priya Sethi, while paying homage to Shaheed Amarnath Bhagat, said he sacrificed his life for the genuine cause of under privileged segments of the society, adding that his name will be written with golden letters in the annals of history.
While speaking on the occasion, MLA Rajesh Gupta said that community is indebted to the sacrifice of Bhagat Amarnath.
The other dignitaries who were present on the occasion include MLAs Kuldep Raj, Dr. Krishen Lal Bhagat, President Anusuchit Jati Morcha, Surinder Bhagat besides representatives of the organization.
President Anusuchit Jati Morcha thanked the Deputy Minister for announcing construction of statue of Shaheed Amarnath Bhagat opposite Civil Secretariat at Shalimar.
Earlier, the artists of Cultural Wing of Department of Information and Public Relations presented a colourful cultural programme.
