SRINAGAR, July 8: Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh today said the Government has already initiated the measures for augmentation of the power sector by upgradation of existing infrastructure and commissioning of new ones.
The Deputy Chief Minister was interacting with the officers and people during his inspection of 44 MW Chutuk power project in Kargil and Hannu Power Project in Leh district.
Chairman Legislative Council, Haji Inayat Ali, Member Parliament, Thupstan Chewang, Principal Secretary Power Sandeep Naik, Deputy Commissioners of Leh, Kargil and other senior offices of the Power Development Department and district administration were present.
The Deputy Chief Minister said that the Government has taken up several measures for the augmentation of the power scenario in the State and in this regard several old projects are being reconstructed and augmented.
While interacting with the deputations at Chutuk Kargil, Dr. Nirmal Singh said that he would take the issue of lesser power generation of the Plant being maintained by the NHPC with the Union Ministry for Power, so that the necessary measures are undertaken for enhancement of generation of power.
Dr. Singh also directed the Principal Secretary, power to ensure the proper augmentation and maintenance of the power project in Hannu which is being maintained by Jammu and Kashmir State Power Development Corporation (JKSPDC).
