JAMMU, June 7: Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Nirmal Singh today directed the officers to ensure early restoration of the electric infrastructure which had got damaged due to the inclement weather in Jammu the other day.
The directions were given by the Deputy Chief Minister while reviewing the power scenario in the Jammu division today. Senior officers of the PDD were present in the meeting.
The Deputy Chief Minister asked the officers to ensure that they should synergize their efforts so that early restoration of the damaged electric infra is done. He said that we have to ensure that the people do not face any inconvenience viz-a-viz electric supply during the hot summer days.
Dr. Singh also directed the Chief Engineer PDD Jammu to direct the field officers to ensure that the people do not suffer and be responsive to the demands of the consumers viz-a-viz restoration of electric power and damaged transformers. He said that they should also setup a 24×7 help line for providing quality supply of electricity to the people of the division.
Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister convened a meeting of officers to review the status of various developmental works of Housing and Urban Development Department and power sector.
Minister of State for Finance and Planning Ajay Nanda, Deputy Commissioner Ravinder Kumar, SSP Tahir Bhat, Director H&UDD Arun Kumar Sharma, ACR Abdul Satar, SDM Katra Neelam Khajuria and senior officers of various departments were present in the meeting.
After threadbare discussion in the meeting, the Dy CM instructed the department to expedite the process for shifting of reharies from bus stand and take other measures in time bound manner so that extension of bus stand is made besides resolving parking problem.
On the issue of construction of toilet complex by Sulabh at Katra, Dy CM stressed upon the officers to strictly adhere to the work chart and follow fixed time line which should be inserted as one condition in the contract agreement.
To improve basic facilities in the Reasi town, the Minister sanctioned toilet complex near Zanana Park which would benefit several local people and walkers. He said all such functional public utilities would play pivotal role in ensuring proper sanitation of the towns.
While laying focus on the officers for speedy construction of solid based management plant at Katra, Dr. Singh asked them to float tender immediately for early start of the work. He also asked them to vigorously follow up land and other related issues with revenue department without causing any inordinate delay.
Later, Dy CM also sorted out detail of power damages due to thunder storm in Pouni, Reasi, Arnas, Mahore, Gulabgarh, Bomag, Chassana and other areas and asked the concerned to restore power supply in these areas on war footing. He further reviewed the power scenario in the district and emphasized on the officers of PDD, revenue and police to initiate joint actions against power theft and illegal power connections.
Meanwhile, DDC also proposed various construction of lanes and drains, tractor trolley, tipper, sucker machine, TATA Ace (Auto) in the Reasi town which would further improve the public facilities in town.
