KATHUA, Sept 21:  Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh today laid foundation stone of Additional Block of PWD Rest House in Billawar today.
The additional building with the provision of one VIP Suite and one Meeting Hall with 200 seat capacity will be completed with an estimated cost of Rs 177.36 lacs shall be executed by PWD(R&B).
Vice Chairman J&K State Kissan Advisory Board, Daljeet Singh Chib, Chief Conservator of Forest Roshan Jaggi, SDM Billawar R. S Charak, XEn PWD, XEn PMSGY were among those present on the occasion.
Dr Singh speaking on the occasion said that the need was felt to upgrade the asset of PWD rest house and being at an ideal place of the town a meeting hall will address the need of tehsil administration. He said that the holistic development of the area is being undertaken so that the people get the requisite and necessary amenities at par with the cities.
He announced that Government Higher Secondary School Billawar will be adopted by him and assured its development with modern infrastructure.
The Deputy Chief Minister later attended the function at Deoli organized by Shri Amar Kashtriya Sabha Billawar to commemorate the Birth Anniversary of Maharaja Hari Singh.
While speaking on the occasion, Dr Nirmal Singh said Maharaja Hari Singh will remain a role model for the generations to come. He said the contribution of Maharaja Hari Singh is phenomenal as he has immensely contributed in every sphere of life which is remembered today as well. “He was a visionary far ahead of his times and the contribution rendered by him would be remembered for ever”, he added.
Dr Singh said that the Government is giving focused attention to developing and upgrading the infrastructure in the State with far flung remote areas being the priority. He said that several new programs would also be initiated for ensuring the holistic and need based development of these areas.
He assured that work on the Deoli approach road will commence soon and said that the other demands projected would be taken up with the concerned.
Later, Dr Nirmal Singh inaugurated Steel Garder Bridge over Preya Nallah at Kah-Kashed in Billawar.
He listened to the grievances of the people at Panachayat Ghar Kashed.
The inhabitants apprised the minister about the problems being faced by them and asked for their early redressal.
