SRINAGAR, Oct 12: Hina Kaware, Deputy Speaker of Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly, met Governor Satya Pal Malik, at the Raj Bhavan here today.
Governor and Kaware discussed various important matters relating to the public welfare and significant steps taken by their respective Governments for growth and development of Madhya Pradesh and J&K and Ladakh.
Kifayat Hussain Rizvi, Honorary General Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) -J&K also met Governor submitted Activity Report of the Red Cross for the year 2019-20 and informed that during this period it has organised 8 First Aid Training programmes; 8 blood donation camps; 2,650 patients were provided free medical consultation and medicines were given at a medical camp in Kashmir; distributed an amount of Rs.1,11,700 as cash relief among 11 beneficiaries suffering from medical complications, and to the fire, road accidents and cross border firing victims. Further the Red Cross has released share of voluntary contribution to the 22 District Red Cross units of J&K and Ladakh.
Governor stressed the high importance of training in first aid and other life saving techniques being imparted to the largest number of volunteers in the districts to meet any emergent situation and directed Sh. Rizvi to distribute blankets to the needy during this winter season.
Prof. Nazeer Ahmed, Vice-Chancellor, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir also met Governor and apprised him about various issues of academic and administrative importance relating to the Main and Off-site campuses and informed that SKUAST-K has secured a Mega Project worth Rs 29.26 crore from ICAR-World Bank for Agricultural Higher Education Reforms and has been sanctioned a Referral Laboratory for screening of Aquatic Animal Pathogens from National Fisheries Development Board.
Governor complimented the VC and his colleagues for their achievements and for receiving two KVK awards: KVK Kulgam-Best KVK in Zone- I and KVK Kupwara- Best Presentation Award for the year 2018-19. He emphasised high importance of continuous up gradation of teaching methods and achieving tangible outcomes in all the research areas.
