SAMBA:Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh today announced inclusion of Kehli Mandi, Arazi Samba, Thalora, Pushwalian, Garh, Dansal, Ramnagar, Rakh Watali and other Mandis of district Samba in Municipality Committee Samba.
The Deputy Chief Minister announced this during a meeting held here today to review the performance of Urban Local Bodies. He said the objective of including these Mandis in Municipality is to equip these areas with all requisite facilities to keep pace with the changing trends in urban infrastructure.
“Effective management and coordination among all stakeholders of municipalities can greatly help in transformation of their local areas into a better place to live”, the Deputy Chief Minister maintained.
Nirmal Singh, while complimenting the people, announced Rs 50 lakh for up gradation of these newly included Municipal areas and Rs 25 lakh for other Municipalities.
Minister for Industries and Commerce, Chander Parkash, besides MLAs, Dr Devinder Kumar Manyal and Kuldeep Raj, Commissioner/Secretary Housing and Urban Development Department, Hirdesh Kumar, Deputy Commissioner, Sheetal Nanda, Director ULB’s Soujanya Sharma, SSP, Joginder Singh ADDC Vivek Sharma, ADC Tilak Raj Sharma and EO’s from Municipalities were also present in the meeting.
The Dy CM took a detailed review of physical and financial targets achieved for the year 2015-16 and 2016-17. He was informed that Rs. 26.29 lakh have been earmarked under district plan and Rs 68.94 lakh under Integrated Development of Small and Medium Town scheme for the year 2016-17. Besides, site for Waste Management plant has been identified by the district administration and Detailed Project Report has been prepared in this regard.
The Dy CM asked the officers to work with utmost devotion and determination to ensure that the government schemes are implemented in an effective manner. “The objective of the present dispensation is to ensure that the people especially those residing in far off parts get better basic amenities that too in a hassle free manner”, he added.
The Industries Minister emphasized special focus on development of Ramgarh Municipal area and creation of parking facilities in Samba District. He said that with the inclusion of these Mandi’s in Municipal limits would further add to development of these areas. He called for maintaining high quality work standards besides strict adherence to timeline while executing works.
The Legislators also spoke on occasion and projected demands of their respective areas seeking an early redressal to the same.
The Dy CM assured the MLAs that all issues raised by them would be looked into for consideration and thus an early redressal.
MLA Samba demanded upgradation of bathing ghats at Hari Singh Chowk and completion of community centre at Chak Mangla while MLA Hiranagar called for inclusion of Rajpura and Ghagwal in Municipal areas.
Commissioner / Secretary informed that Samba town has been selected to be covered under the scheme ‘ Housing for All’ phase-I, for which, DPR has been submitted to the concerned.
