Dwivedi reviews functioning of GMC, Associated Hospitals

JAMMU, July 23: Secretary, Health and Medical Education MK Dwivedi today reviewed the functioning of Government Medical College and Hospital here today.
The meeting was attended by Principal GMC Dr Aniece Choudhary, Administrator Associated Hospitals, Personal Officer Associated Hospitals, Medical Superintendent SMGS,CD Hospital and other senior officers.
Threadbare discussions were held on the measures to improve the functioning of GMC and other associated hospitals. The Secretary directed the Medical Superintendent to take up the issue of strengthening and upgradation of neonatal intensive care unit at SMGS on priority basis and asked him to ensure that all the vital equipments are made functional. He instructed to take over the 200 bedded new paediatric block for making it functional at the earliest.
Stressing the need to adopt a receptive and service centric approach by health care providers, Mr Dwivedi said that better coordination at all levels is vital for streamlining the functioning of the premier institution.
He asked the concerned line departments to ensure that the health care facilities are not affected due to operational or maintenance reasons. He said that manpower, machinery and maintenance should be in place for ensuring better facilities to the patients on commissioning of super specialty hospital and paediatric block.
Mr Dwivedi directed Principal GMC to ensure that vacancies of paramedical and support staff is filled immediately and all logistic and technical arrangements are made well in time. He said well-timed steps will be taken to make the hospital functional by providing infrastructural and diagnostic facilities .
He also directed the concerned officers to ensure better sanitation and security in the hospital by providing additional workforce so that patients do not face any problem.
