Durga Nagar Welfare Committee sends memorandum to PM, HM

JAMMU, Oct 3: Durga Nagar Welfare Committee in a meeting today held under the chairmanship of its president Roshan Lal Raina discussed the problems being faced by the people of the area as well as displaced Kashmiri Pandits.
The Committee in an appeal to Prime Minister and Home Minister of India demanded hike in cash relief from Rs 13,000 to 20,000 per month in view of sky rocketing prices of essential commodities, waiving of SRO 194 in case PM package employees, construction of Government accommodations at district level in Valley for package employees, construction of 1000 TRTs at Purkhoo for the displaced people living on rent and dingy ORTs at Purkhoo, DCs in Valley be asked to remove all encroachments from migrant property and the share of production of migrants land be recovered from the tenants, PM package employees be given promotion benefits and discrimination in this regard should end.
It also demanded clearance of backlog under PM employment package, providing of facilities to non camp areas like opening of dispensaries, schools, proper water, electricity and construction of roads and lanes and passage of Hindu Shrines and Temples Bill. It has sent a memorandum to both PM and HM in this regard.
The meeting also made appeal to Chief engineers of R&B, Electricity and Jal Shakti to solve the long pending demands of the people of the area. It urged the J&K Bank authorities to replace the old ATM at Durga Nagar by new one.
Others who attended the meeting included its chairman Ravinder Bakshi, general secretary, Behari Lal Raina and other members Roshan Lal Koul, Mahraj Krishan Raina, Bushan Lal Koul, Bharat Bushan Gosani etc.
