Durga Nagar Welfare Committee discusses demands

JAMMU, Oct 6: A meeting of Durga Nagar Welfare Committee was held under the chairmanship of its president, Roshan Lal Raina in which various problems being faced by the people of the area were highlighted.
The meeting expressed grave concern over the stopping of home delivery of LPG and harassment caused to consumers in getting the LPG cylinders, non supply of ration to newly issued ration cards for last three months, delay in laying of slab over the deep drain in Durga Nagar Enclave and insanitation in the area due to dumping of heaps of garbage on roads.
The meeting demanded that 12 gas cylinders be issued to consumers for their domestic needs per year. It appealed the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah to take up the issue with Union Government.
It criticized the Director Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD) for withholding the supply of ration to newly issued APL cards to migrants and termed the decision as highly discriminatory. The meeting also sought immediate intervention of Chief Minister in the matter. It also urged him to take up the issue of relief holders for enhancement of cash relief with Centre immediately.
General secretary of the Committee M L Pandita, Mohan Lal, Behari Lal, C L Zuthsi and Shamboo Nath also addressed the meeting.
