Durga Nagar residents’ concern over power, water crisis

JAMMU, July 11: Durga Nagar Welfare Committee in a meeting today held under the chairmanship of its president, Roshan Lal Raina has urged the Chief Engineers of PHE and PDD to redress their problems of power cuts and erratic water supply as the people are facing many hardships in these hot and humid days on account of the same.
The meeting, which was also addressed by chairman of the Committee, Ravinder Bakshi and general secretary, Bihari Lal Raina said that tripping of feeder Number 2 at Roop Nagar and prolonged gap in the water supply has led to the acute problems of the people. They demanded immediate repairs of tube well at Durga Nagar park which is not functioning properly and impure water is supplied to people that can led to health hazards.
They urged the PHE officers to visit the area and find out the reasons why water supply has been hampered for last four days to Durga Nagar. They said the Durga Nagar and adjoining localities are facing acute water scarcity for last six days. They also demanded decreasing of load which often develops snag as 28 transformers are being fed by it.
The other members of the Committee who attended the meeting included C L Zutshi, Badri Nath, Bansi Lal, Bharat Bushan Gosani, R K Koul, Avtar Krishan and Mahraj Krishan.
