JAMMU, Apr 7: Dogra Sadar Sabha (DSS) in consultation with prominent citizens has specified strategy to fight drug menace.
Addressing a press conference, President DSS and Former Minister Gulchain Singh Charak said that the Central Government should get investigated through an appropriate intelligence agency about smuggling from Pakistan into the border belts on Indian side, UT Level Agency probe into the involvement of black sheep if any within the Police Department who may be facilitating mushrooming growth in number of drug traffickers, encourage and reward dedicated police officers and personnel who perform commendable job in the fight against drug menace, identify and improve upon the lax rules, launch vigorous and sustained campaign to thoroughly sensitize, motivate and mobilize students and people in general against this immoral and harmful activity, fix the responsibility of head of institutions for keeping a strong vigil on drug menace activities within the educational institutions and also in the vicinity, strengthen the existing De-Addiction and Rehabilitation Centres, establish Special Control Rooms to effectively respond to SOS calls of victims of drug peddlers/traffickers, strengthen the Interstate Coordination for Prevention and Control of drug menace, utilize services of dedicated, honest, knowledgeable and experienced police officers/personnel in drug prevention and control operations.
The DSS unanimously resolved to draw attention of the UT Administration headed by Manoj
Sinha, Lt Governor, Jammu and Kashmir, towards the serious issue of drug menace as it concerns health and welfare of general public, particularly the youth and students.
