DSS kick starts political initiative from border area

JAMMU, Mar 18: Dogra Sadar Sabha (DSS) has launched its political initiative from the border belt of Jammu in view of forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.
The first meeting of Jammu District (Rural) of the Political Affairs Committee (PAC) along with core committee members of DSS was held at Bishnah under the chairmanship of Thakur Gulchain Singh Charak, former Minister and president DSS, as per the decisions reached at the meeting of PAC held at Dogra Bhawan Jammu on March 16. The meeting was attended by a large number of members from Bishnah, RS Pura, Vijaypur and Bari Brahmana areas specially the border belt which included Panches, Sarpanches, Namberdars, Chowkidar, Ex-servicemen and other prominent persons.
DSS president explained in detail the circumstances for the formation of PAC and the way forward particularly in view of the impending elections in the State and the views of the participants were ascertained on the move. All the participants wholeheartedly and enthusiastically supported the political initiative floated by the committee and even exhorted the president to immediately implement the idea to form the political outfit of DSS. They also appealed to the PAC to nominate Ghambir Dev Singh Charak as candidate for the Jammu constituency in the forthcoming Parliamentary elections.
The important issues raised by the members included rejuvenation of irrigation system, desilting of canals/distributries, control of drug menace, solve problems related to medical facilities, supply of electricity in the rural areas and misuse/misappropriation of huge amounts of funds being released by different centrally sponsored schemes.
It was brought out that not a single person in the area has benefitted from such schemes so far. The point regarding construction of sub standard bunkers for the residents of border areas was forcefully raised by Ex-Sarpanch Dr Raghvir Singh.
Brig (Retd) MS Jamwal, Prem Gupta, Hakumat Singh (Retd SP) and S. Kulbir Singh also spoke on the occasion.
Madan Lal Bhagat, Kirpal Singh, Mehar Singh, Sohan Singh, Subedar Dewan Singh, Raj Kumar, Capt Harshvarden, all Sarpanches and Panches also attended the meeting.
