JAMMU, Sept 2: Police today arrested a drugs supplier along with large quantity of intoxicants and banned syrup bottles.
As per police sources, on specific information, police team from City police station and Residency Road police post laid a naka near Eid Gah road and signaled a Chevrolet Yuva car bearing registration number JK02AG-9046 to stop.
On seeing police team, the driver accelerated the vehicle and tried to escape, but the cops chased and intercepted the vehicle near some distance.
During checking, police recovered 1200 intoxicant capsules and 5 bottles of banned syrup.
The driver of the vehicle was arrested on the spot, who has been identified as Saleem Raza, son of Abdul Qayoom of Haveli Mohalla, tehsil Bhaderwah, district Doda, at present Ramzanpura area of Janipur.
The drugs smuggler was about to deliver the consignment to his associate for further distribution among the youth, but police thwarted his nefarious designs.
A case under FIR Number 53/15 under Section 8/20/21 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at City police station and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO City police station Inspector Shakti Sharma and accompanied by Incharge Residency Road police post SI Arun Bhagat made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO City Perbeet Singh Parihar, SP city Shiv Kumar Singh Chowhan and Incharge SSP Jammu Rajiv Pandey.
