Drug smuggler arrested, another manages to escape

KATHUA, Apr 24: One drug smuggler was arrested while another managed to escape at Govindsar Railway Station near here this morning.
The arrested person was identified as Gurdeep Singh, son of Jasmer Singh and his absconding college was identified as Kamal Singh son of Amarjeet Singh of Jasrota Kathua.
According to police the duo after alighting from the train at Govindsar Railway Station this morning were intercepted by three cops of Special Branch of Police namely Surinder Kumar, Surinder Singh and Ravi Singh. They had received information that some youth are involved in smuggling drugs in the area from neighboring Punjab. The cops were in civil dress.
However one of the smugglers took out a sharp edged weapon and attacked cops resulting into the injury of one cop Surinder Singh.
The Hatli Morh Police Post has registered a case against the duo under NDPS and Arms Act. They have also recovered three grams of heroine from one person. The police is investigating the matter and launched a manhunt to arrest the another youth also.
