SRINAGAR, Oct 25: Police today said it nabbed drug peddlers and recovered banned drugs and illicit liquor from their possession in two separate raids at Kupwara district.
Senior Superintendent of Police Kupwara, Shamsher Hussain said the police while carrying search of vehicles and pedestrians near Drugmulla market in Kupwara recovered 15 bottles of rum from the possession of a person namely Abdul Jabar Sofi. “In this regard, a case under FIR number 291/2016 under Section 48 Excise Act stands registered,” he said.
The SSP said that police also recovered banned drugs from three known drug peddlers at Kupwara namely Tanvir Ahamd Najar, Sajad Ahamad Najar and Abdul Rashid Malik. “A case under FIR number 292/2016 under Section 8/21 NDPS Act has been registered and further investigation is going on” he said.
