Drug peddlers arrested; Chitta, banned tablets seized

UDHAMPUR, Sept 6: Udhampur police today recovered 5.5 gms of contraband substance (Chitta) from a narcotic smuggler near KV School, Dhar Road, Udhampur while in another success, more than 600 banned tablets were recovered from a drug peddler at Tikri.
According to SSP Rayees Mohammad Bhatt, a police party of PP Roundomail, led by SHO Udhampur Vijay Choudhary and assisted by SI Jaswinder Singh (Incharge PP Roundomail), laid a naka near KV School, Dhar Road, Udhampur and arrested the accused. Upon his search, 5.5 gms of heroin (Chitta) was recovered from the accused, identified as Iftikar, son of Muzafar Din of Meghany Kotli, Udhampur, who was arrested on the spot.
In this connection, a case FIR number 448/2018 u/s 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at PS Udhampur and further investigation of the case is taken up.
In another success during a raid conducted by a police party, led by SHO Rehambal, Insp Paramjeet Singh and assisted by SI Sanjeet Sharma (Incharge PP Tikri), under the supervision of Dy SP Hqrs Kulbir Handa, one suspected person was caught at Tikri – Katra link road, Udhampur.
The said person was taken into custody and the police team recovered 250 tablets of Tramadol and 375 tablets of Alprazolam from his possession. The accused was identified as Balvinder Singh, son of Balbir Singh of Tikri, Udhampur. He was arrested and recovered tablets were seized.
In this connection, a case FIR number 126/18 U/S 8/20/21 NDPS Act, has been registered at P/S Rehambal against the accused person and further investigation of the case is going on.
